We are urging residents to remain vigilant following reports of rural burglaries and suspicious circumstances in the past week in villages surrounding Market Rasen. We have received reports of burglaries from farms and outbuildings that were left unlocked. We are also aware of reports of individuals trying house door handles. Follow this advice to protect your home from crime: Ensure that your home and outbuildings are secured and locked whenever you leave it. Close and lock all your doors and windows, even if you’re only going out for a few minutes.‘Double Secure your Door’. Modern multi-locking and uPVC doors use a system of hooks and latches to secure the door, but these only work if you lift the handle and then remember to turn and remove the key. Remember LIFT. LOCK. REMOVE.If you can, make sure to property mark your items and take photographs of them. You can also register any item that has a serial number with the national property register Immobilise.Alarm it. Consider an alarm for your property or a battery-operated alarm for sheds and outbuildings. These can look lowkey, however they respond to movement and door contact with a loud siren. You can also consider motion censored CCTV and security lighting. For more crime prevention advice, visit our website. Is it an emergency?
